For many years, I
was a true Jersey lounge lizard, wearing different hats to please the bar crowd. Lyrical influences – Joni Mitchell, Laura Nyro, Steely Dan, Gershwin, Porter, Sondheim, Sting, Phil Ochs, to name a few. Blown away by the Ray Charle
s and Betty Carter album. Then I was introduced to the miracle of Beverly Kenney, by my husband, Alfred, with whom I later co-wrote lyrics for “Here’s To The Band” for Sinatra. Life changing.
Our beloved dog, Gaetano, who shares the cover with me, served as our main inspiration for this CD. “When no one wants to play wit
h me, you love me “Unconditionally”. Hope you have a “Gaetano” in your life.
In The Press
…a cool and relaxed style and
a great jazz sensibility that only comes from experience – outstanding lyrics. They are witty, profound, intimate and showcase a wonderful grasp of poetic rhyme.“
Alan Paul, from the Manhattan Transfer
“…a great CD-wonderful new songs. Sharman has a voice and style that needs to be heard. It was a pleasure to play on it.”
Jerry Bruno, acoustic bass player
“..unusual chord patterns and song structure. Lots of smooth surprises. She whispers some of her songs like Julie London – subtle and sexy.”
